On April 11, 2023, Governor Sanders signed Senate Bill 354 into law, which is now Act 628. The new law creates the State Board of Appraisers, Abstracters, and Home Inspectors.

The new board will be composed of eleven members, appointed by the Governor, and subject to confirmation by the Arkansas Senate. Members will be chosen based on their expertise and experience in the fields of appraisers, abstracters, and home inspectors. Also, the board will include a financial member and senior/consumer member.

The merger of these boards will streamline the regulatory process and create a more efficient and effective system for overseeing these important careers. The new board, which begins its work on July 1, 2023, will be able to provide a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to regulating the professions of appraisers, abstracters, and home inspectors.

Staff will continue processing the daily responsibilities of all of the new divisions.

Well.....at least that's better than letting smash and grab robberies, street takeovers run rampant...

So now if other States follow Inspectors, will be licensed and that will legitimize their services and bye bye appraisers :)

The point is that they're not going to go completely unregulated by the state. There will be minimum qualifications and most likely a test. And fees.

This one is going to drive the critics crazy. Party on 15th Street. Junketing to Lake Hamilton during the spring. Adoption of abstractor and inspection standards by reference. The whole nine.
Members will be chosen based on their expertise and experience in the fields of appraisers, abstracters, and home inspectors. Also, the board will include a financial member and senior/consumer member.
