This would be a great boon for those of us cursed with having to use ACI for certain clients.

They have an ACI plug in that will convert the files. I don't know much about it since all of my clients are ok with pdf files.

I do not believe that is true. They have a plug in for Lighthouse (an ACI program), which THEN converts it to ACI. However, you must buy (and annually re-buy) Lighthouse to do this. I agree, an "in house" conversion to ACI format would be nice, but I don't think it will ever happen, because I think ACI id a proprietary format which Al A Mode would have to license, or something like that.

ACI format is just a rule set checker for lenders and AMCs. Why would Alamode want to convert any product developed in their software into another software provider's version? Alamode has its own rule set checkers for their lender/clients through the Mercury network. BTW, the latest Appraisalport survey shows that Alamode still has +/-48% of market share for users of Appraisalport. ACI is a distant second a 35%. The other guys might as well just close up shop. 2-3% use multiple software providers.

Ok, that must be what I'm thinking about.

Sorry. Like I said, I won't accept assignments that require ACI files.

the real question is "Why won't LSI develop a submission portal that does not require an ACI formated report?"

You will not like the answer, but it is true! LSI uses ACI format because the ACI format lends itself quite well to data stripping. EVERY appraisal that is sent ACI (as well as other formats like AI READY) has all salable data stripped from it and sold to companies like Experian, who use the data to create and feed AVM's, which do automated appraisals which will put us out of business. Neat trick, huh! They make US PAY to use their software either Lighthouse or ACI software, charge us to use their portals to upload to, so they can strip OUR data and sell it to others!!!!

Any XML file is easily used for data stripping. PDF files are easily used for data stripping, which is why ACI can easily convert a PDF into an ACI report. LSI is not changing anything because they don't see a need to do so.

It isn't ethical. And the guy who developed the software for ACI was a money-grubbing whøre who sold-out his brethren for a few sheckles.

I once called a la mode tech support and asked if they could do it and the Tier 1 guy said "No. Never. Don't even ask." You have to respect that.

Yeah, ACI. Screw the appraisers, we're in it for the money.
