We are currently using the Microsoft Address Book to keep up with all of our clients. Previously we were using a product by Individual Software called AnyTime. We encountered a problem with AnyTime and decided to stop using it all together. With the Microsoft Address Book we have found that we have to enter an entry more than once in order to keep our address book organized. We don't like the idea of having to repeat the steps over in order to get to our final destination. We would rather enter an entry once and be done with it. With AnyTime, we got what we needed in that manner, but, it appeared to have problems after we entered several hundred addresses. Does anyone know of any easy to use, address book software, that will allow you to place the individual addresses into several groups, and enter anywhere from 800-1000 addresses? We are using Windows XP on an HP system.
Thank you,
Kimberly Busa for

Alamode software has that feature built right into the appraisal software.

"Act" allows you to set up groups and you can then place your individual contacts in any number of groups. I'll create a group for each client. I'll keep all my approval information and undewriting information attached to that group. The individual loan officers, for example, are then attached to that group. I can contact them individually or just do a mailing to the whole group.

Act is a great program and very comprehensive. Maybe too comprehensive if you don't like to customize things.

since i deplore utilizing any of the address books that come with the windows environment due to virus prolictivity...... your question sent me off on a 'search'.

voila!!

found a lil jewel that may be exactly what you're looking for: no quantity limits! they've test to over 100,000 cards so far... and fully custimizable, including the ability to include pictures (am seeing way mucho appraisal applications for That feature!)

It's available for Free Download at: CardFile

it's a take on the original Microsoft Window's cardfile that existed with the original Windows 3.x (ohh my! wadda long time ago that was!)

If you decide to keep this lil progy (1.3 megs), registering it ($12) will get rid of the lil pop-up that may be irritating to many, and entitle you to future upgrades. (am still trying to git over sticker-shock on most appraisal progys)

i KNOW there are some computer capish persons in this forum. wadda ya say guys and gals.... check this out.

then create the filters that will best suit the appraisal community. (i would, but i still don't fully know the groupings that'd be most helpful in this area)

the appraisal specific samples would then be submited to the creators of this software to be added to their growing list of free downloadables, hence available to all appraisers who'd wish to download them and have a fully functional Appriaser Card File/Address Book.

wow, wadda luxury!

I've looked around and haven't found anything better than Palm Desktop, the software that comes with Palm PDA's.

It's simple and has user-definable categories. It dials, pastes to other applications, and generally does everything else I need it to do. Best of all, it's a widely-used and mature program, so all the kinks have been ironed out.

There's no mention of the maximum number of records it holds, but I can't imagine that it would be less than a thousand. The software comes with any Palm PDA, or you can download it from www.palmone.com (if you insist on paying for it, you'll have to figure out how).

There are a couple of other features that are part of the program, like a calendar, memo pad, etc. but just remove them from view and you'll never know they're there.

I am not sure I understand the original problem ... I use Outlook on the XP OS without any problems and never have to enter anything more than once ... I can group specific clients into distribution lists and send e-mail to one or all ... separate bank clients and mortgage clients as well as private clients ... I can sort by address, phone, e-mail, last contact..... just about anything that I want .... I can even use the journal function with the calendar function to set up specific call dates so that I can stay fresh on the clients mind .....

When I was at Gibson Guitars, one of the things that I was in charge of was devising away to use the available software that we already had to be used to it's fullest .... I have several demonstrations and instructional Power Point presentations that I used to bring the entire Gibson sales force up to speed on how to use Outlook to it's fullest. I still have them and will be glad to pass them around if anyone is interested ..... Just let me know .....
