Anyone have a LA company (hopefully near Baton Rouge) that does the 15 hour USPAP. Looks like I may get back into appraising...but on the equipment appraisal side of the business. The firm wants me to take the 15 hour class. Since I retired a couple of years ago, all of my education is about 3 years out of date...darn it.

Never thought I would get back into the appraising game. But this game seems to be 10 times better than doing real estate appraisals or split work for AMCs.

Thanks Non, I added to the links to my 'favorites' list. Hopefully this deal pans out for me and I'll have to go.

If you're ever tired of eating yankee food in Red Stick give me a holler.

I hope the new job works out for you. Sometimes many of us forget that there are other types of appraisal besides real estate. I think it would be fun to appraise boats. Maybe the ocean fishing type or maybe a shrimp boat. Who knows, lol but best of luck with your new experience!:)

Non, I'm headed to Middendorf's one day this week....does that count as non-yankee food? :)

I should know if the job is a go or no-go within the next 10 days. Hopefully it will be a go.

Good stuff there, not to many yankees prowling the Manchac swamps. According to the old timers that area used to be some of the best duck hunting in the region before giant salvinia took over.

Their catfish is soooooooooooo good.

I used to like 'Catfish Charlies". There is one in Gulfport that I used to go to on a regular basis when I lived in Biloxi in the mid 80s. Then there is one in Hammond that closed a few months ago. I guess the Hammond place really went down hill in the last couple of years. Lots of dissatified customers. I've eaten there twice about 3-4 years ago.

There's a 'McElroys' in Biloxi. They have a whole stuffed flounder that is to die for. If you haven't been there you gotta go.

There's a Cabella's fishing/hunting store in Denham Springs. They have a restaurant, a bar and an unbelieveable aquarium. The have some great alligator, and other very good foods. Nevedrf been disappointed yet.

Spahr's Seafood Restaurant in Des Allemands is one of the best, a little different batter and they don't slice the filets as thin as Middendorf's.

I stopped by for lunch once and dinner once in the restaurant in Bass Pro, don't waste your time. Never tried the one in Cabella's.

If you like andouille stop at Jacob's in Laplace (on Airline Hwy), they're also known for hog head cheese. Just a hop and skip off of I-10 and exit 51.

Had a fantastic lunch at Middendorf's today. Dang but that is goooooood eatin.

Non, I was mistaken & don't know why I called that store a Cabellas. It is a Bass Pro shop. It is at the Denham Springs exit on I-12. And the fod I have had there on several occassions has been good eatin. The manager did tell me once that each Bass Pro shop restaurant is different from all of the others...and he rattled off what several of them were. I guess they each have their own chef and develop their own menus. Unless it has gone down hill in the last 6 months...this is a darn good place to eat.
