PnT,
Thanks for the kind words! A word of caution on my (seeming) praise for the SP3 - I have not spent any real world time with it yet, and I feel that would be important before recommending it for most of our customers. I urge all to resist the temptation to be "first on your block" and rush into something like this. The name of the game is increasing efficiency, reliability, etc. - not being first with the latest device. I do that anyway, but hey - that fits within my job description ;-)
I am most definitely putting more effort into the Windows 8.x side of things because that is where the most interest is. And remember, you don't have to spend what a SP3 will cost to get a pretty decent Win 8 tablet. I happen to like the sub-$300 8" Dell. I have found that 8" is an ergonomic sweet spot for a lot of our users. I know it is tempting to dismiss anything under 10", but I feel that folks should go fondle 8" devices while evaluating.
We will likely do more Android updates (new version) before we do another iOS version. Android just fits in better for most of our customers than iOS. MSA (Android) is simply a better product than our iOS version - by a long shot. It is also written by the same team as is doing MS8, and IF we do another iOS version, it will be by them as well. As for interior lines ("Free Form" in Apex terminology) is doable in MS8 but it is done a little differently than the old Apex products (DOS - Apex v5.) Hard to explain the specifics here with a quick reply, and it is fair/accurate to say that interior walls were not a high priority for the main MSA user. With the newer versions due out later, we'll see more emphasis there
Once I get back to the office, I will check with Robert as to when we plan on releasing some info on the new products. For now, I would be comparing the newest Galaxy Tab (or Note) products with some of the consumer line Win 8 Tablets. If you want to step up to business class for ruggedness, etc., take a look at the others I mentioned in the other thread.
Hope this helps for now. If you have specific questions, feel free to ask here/there as appropriate or PM me if it is so specific that you feel others might not be interested.
Regards,
-Randall Garrett-
