I see these advertisements for ieimpact and other such companies where they will enter your data for a flat fee saving you time, has anyone tried such a service, are they reliable and what about USPAP confidentiality would this break that? Just some thoughts...thanks!

There have been several threads on this topic. All with pros and cons.
Personally I would rather hire someone locally that needs the money than hire someone I don't know that is in some "other" area. The reasons are, mostly, obvious. However. One reason, not so obvious, is the benefit to the local economy. A dollar spent locally will create more than a dollar in other spending. And you don't have to get past the English to Hindi translation problem.

I really don't get the draw of these services. It's the field work, research and writing the analysis/reconciliation, etc. that eats up most of my time. From what I've read all they do is type in the basic info from MLS sheets and tax cards. How does this help save time?

They can type faster and charge/earn less per hour than I do?

Back in the good days, I had a sec type every report prior to inspection and them right after I got back I would tweek it to be correct. Now that my biz is down 35-40 % thanks to Cuomo and AMC's I do it my self which after almost 2 decades is REALLY boring, but I can churn a 1004 non-complex in about 1 1/2 hours.

Unless you are one of the slowest typists on the planet, you won't save any time. You will still have to...well, you should anyway...proofread what they do to make sure it's correct.

I can read over 1000 wpm. +/-1500 wpm with over +/-75% comprehension when I took the course. Of course I was over 400 wpm before I took the course, most folks are in the 200wpm range. I can't type nearly that fast.:)

I am not that fast a typist.

But, though I'd save time typing, then wouldn't I spend almost as much time uploading the data MLS sheets and sending it to them, then dowloading the report the next day...and then proof reading...what is the time saved...10-20 minutes?

Here's what I can't get my head around.

You download the tax card and MLS sheets for them to type in the basic info for the subject and comps. O.K., maybe it's me but I can type in that stuff into a report in no time and don't see where it would save any amount of time. What I don't get is what else are they typing? If they are typing your market analysis, reconciliation, etc. how are they getting it? If you typed it once to send to them why not just drop it in the report?
