Hey All!

I noticed that in this forum and on reddit that a lot of people have the same questions about our industry and the expectations for people looking to become appraisers. This poll is entirely anonymous (which you'll see at the top where it says "Not Shared") and consists of approx 20 questions. I intend to post the results here after a few days as well to share with you guys and help answer questions for anyone that comes to this thread looking for those answers. If you have additional comments or questions I should have added here, please let me know!

The problem with surveys is that you get some who likes to do survey and some don't.
When I get call asking survey on my political views, I hang up on them because it's none of their business.
So the surveys and poll results are from those types who are willing to do the questioning. Best is to get larger sample number.
If you get all the curmudgeons like the infamous Dublin in AF, you're stats will be skewed (or screwed).

You mean all of us old guys who have probably forgotten more about appraisals than you know. As long as the survey is about facts. You don't have to worry about "curmudgeons" skewing the results. Opinion about the condition of the industry are just opinions and shouldn't "skew" anything. At least us "curmudgeons" will provide an opinion based on facts as opposed to the cynical conspiracy theories some present

Flawed poll. If someone is self employed then they aren't working in any of those types of appraisal firms or working for splits or salaries. As for asking about incomes? Puhleeze

Google forms is not anonymous. As for income, what month is it, lol? I schedule my vacation opposite of when others tend to, so I get completely slammed around major holidays and make up for shortages. Not everyone can do that though. The only way to have a guaranteed regular income as an appraiser is to work for the county assessor, state government, or federal government as a civil servant on the lower end of the pay scale. But it does require repiticious boredom for sometimes weeks on end and having to go along with really dumb decisions made by higher ups, that you may not agree with, and don't make sense, but you are required to fall in line with the process, never criticize nor protest and do only what you are assigned to do, nothing extra (it will not be appreciated). I recommend for experience and learning how things work though. The benefits are usually good, though not as good as Boomers had it obviously. Good to get into if you're young and don't know any better. I recommend that path when appraisers want a steady check.

Yea if you have a google account. Your e-mail is right at the top of the survey. Besides the poll is for the OP's commercial use. So who cares
The email is not shared. It says it right at the top of the form. This is an entirely anonymous poll that is used to help new appraisers coming into the field to get a feel for what to expect from the profession. Reddit has been very gracious in participating in this poll, and the results can be found here:
