You have access to every subscribers email - why haven't you made an official announcement ?

How long will NCV have tech support ?

Will our subscriptions be pro-rated ?

Why haven't you contacted another vendor and made backdoor deals to at least give a small discount on the next great appraisal software switch-a-roo ?

Communication is the key .....JDB please address the people who gave you their hard earned money.

I feel let down..........m2:

Hello.

On the email issue, while I do have the email address of everyone who has downloaded the program, even false addresses they may have used, if I tried to send a blast myself I would probably accomplish little more than having my emails blacklisted and, besides, I would not know the difference between someone who just downloaded, a false email, and someone who actually subscribed. As for emails used when setting up users, I do not have access to any of that information and it is only on each user's computer and private to the user.

Tech support...since January I have posted that I have very limited ability to even modify the program. If it can be done via resource or hex editor, then I can do it, but there aren't too many things that can be modified this way.

As for subscription status, once my server is no longer accessible, subscriptions will not expire (provided you have been properly updating). I cannot be positive about this because the actual code is not something I can work with, but I think this would be the case...kind of like the "Nagware" mode but with more functionality.

On the "switch-a-roo," while I have not contacted a vendor regarding this and discounts, I have done a very thorough evaluation of alternative software which I would recommend. I did actually even visit, after an invitation, another vendor, but it was related more to giving me more information about their software and their company operations. If people update to the latest version of NCVForms, they will see a link to an "article" I wrote about my conclusion and perhaps this vendor will offer a discount if I am mentioned.

Here is what I wrote.

Communication is NOT always the key. Sometimes we aren't allowed to say the things we want, and sometimes people just don't listen.

Best I can do.

JD - I'm sorry things have unfolded this way. NCV has been an excellent option for me. I've been covering my market for over 20 years and have used all of the major software providers. Your program has fit me the best for the basic functionality that I wanted.

I wish you well and thank you for your hard work.

Agree, thank you JD.

Good luck JD. Interesting write up at your link. :clapping:

No worries, JD

Pox on Bradford. Karma (interesting, eh?) is going to be a biach. No pun intended.

JD. I haven't spoken to you in a while but I will always consider us to be friends. Be assured that better days are coming.

From one who knows the real "story" or the real deal, truth be told, you are be an honorable and upstanding man.

That being said, sometimes, its the wiser choice is to cut ones losses.

Is there a wink emoticon? :icon_wink: Yes. I found it.

Love this original post. It's like, "gee, sorry things aren't going well for you, but back to me! Where's my free/discounted stuff?!"

Gotta jump in here. I don't read the post that way. The OP asked legitimate questions. I paid my renewal in June. Knowing if the vendor is going to pro-rate that since support will be minimal at best is legitimate.
For myself I don't care. I knew when I re-upped that the future was sketchy. I accepted the risk. Time to move on.

Very interesting write-up. I would assume the 4 software suites you looked at are the big four; Bradford, ACI, WCA/SFREP, and Total. Although I questioned if #3 might have been Homeputer.

I have to say that is a pretty glowing review of Total. I will definitely have to give them serious consideration when I make my software change. Like your review, I have often found the interface a little strange and hard to get used to. But I suppose in time its just a matter of learning a new piece of software. For me the biggest hang up (apart from not working on Linux in WINE) is that I can't customize where files are stored. All other software I looked at allows me to set the folder locations for all files, including database, templates, users, pdf, uad files, reports etc. Thats pretty important to me. I like having control of where my files are stored. But some of the tools and features you mentioned would definitely be nice.

If I do switch to Total it will be in large part because of your recommendation. Well that and I just don't know if I can support the company whos software I like better.

RP - You comment came across as passive aggressive. Haters are gon'a Hate.
My main beef is the communication in regards to the demise of NCV.
I just though JD might have directed a soft spot for his paying customers to land. Nothing more - nothing less.
BTW - I have a right to complain and praise as all consumers have.
An example of the lagged communication is JD wrote that article August 18.
Its now 30 days letter and its just now being digested by all. Enough said.
I have to agree - time to move on to another. I will have to admit, I loved the software and the whole david vs goliath business model. Cheers.
