This discussion of arthritis hit home because I'm dealing with a lot of lower back problems lately, stenosis, herniated disc. I' contemplating surgery not because of pain but because of weakness/fatigue in my right leg.

I've been reading about a couple of clinics in Florida. One is called the Laser Spine Institute, (Tampa area I think) that do outpatient back surgery. Minimally invasive using a laser. There's no general anesthesia and you're back on your feet really fast.

Anyone familiar with this. Or you folks in Florida know anything about these guys.

The weakness in the leg is sciatica, very treatable without surgery. I used to have it really bad. Go to Egoscue's site. Click on the body part that hurts and do his exercises. If it feels better, they can help you. Another way to test if he can help you - lace your fingers behind your head and pull your elbows back, then walk. If you have less pain, they can help you.

BTW, MANY people have herniated disks without experiencing pain.

Pete's got several books, including "Pain Free at the PC" as well as many other ways to get quick results.

In an effort to describe or put a label on him, long time friend and client Jack Nicklaus calls Pete an "Anatomical Functionalist" and goes on to say, "Pete Egoscue has totally changed my life. Never have I experienced such complete pain relief as I have by following the Egoscue Method."

My mother suffers from sciatica too. She goes in about once or twice a year for a cortisone injection into the affected area of her spine, and while the injection is unpleasant when it's happening, the relief it brings is well worth it.
