After years of keeping old paper copies of zoning maps from various municipalities, I am looking for a new source. I know about Ordinance and was told they are pretty good.

Could anyone tell me if there are other sources other than Ordinance.com?

Thanks,

CJ

Christopher:

Might depend on where in NJ you are located, and if you are a MLS member.

I belong to the two largest MLS services in the area (at a reduced fee, as I don't need to "list" any properties).

Both of the MLS services have links to local zoning maps, census tracts and one even has a link to a flood map. I don't know why realtors would require census tracts, but they do like to check zoning and flood locations and the MLS has the database to help them.

If you have to pay for or subscribe to zoning services, you might want to explore the cost of joining the MLS, as you get many different types of information.

Hi Barbara:
I am aware that NJ MLS has flood maps. I am member of Hudson , NJ and soon Garden state. Which one has the zoning maps?
Thanks , Moe

Moe,

I did not take the time to go back into GSMLS (I explore again soon). but in NJMLS all you have to do is click on the "dot" under "Realist".

For instance, when you do a tax search the far right hand column is headed "Realist". Click the button for the property you want, and it will take you to another window which offers property information, flood maps, tax maps and zoning maps. Just one warning: the zoning maps download slowly if you are on dial-up, even at 56K.

Get back to me if you have any difficulty.

Moe,

If you're in GSMLS, tax maps are available here.

tax.gsmls.com

Don't use www.

Thanks Ben
I do get tax maps from NJ MLS. I was not able to get them on GSMLS for hudson county.
Am I doing something wrong?

If you sign up for online access to floodmaps.com, as an additional freebee, you can also get the NJ zoning maps online. It costs me $20.00/month for this service. The only problem is that with the zoning maps the outlined areas if each individual zoning area are sometimes not accurate. For example, instead of having the boundary line for the R-10 zone above main street, it would have it below. They will also have you a free trial.

The tax maps are in Active X format and also png format. Both choices will be on the page, side by side with each other. Most photo programs can read/open the png format if you don't want to install Active X.
