They sound like appraisers complaining about fees.

Chad....you can have all of the ones that would have been mine. I have no intention of ever preparing a BPO.

Yep, I have been a "full" broker for close to 30 years and could jump right in the water if I wanted to. I don't want to, don't have to and ain't going to.

I had no idea before this post low the pay was for a BPO. It's amazing that someone could make a living doing them for $45, let alone $15-$25. It begs the question, if their fees are falling so low and work is slowing, and residential appraisal fees are being squeezed as much as they are and work is slowing, just how bad is our economy? Is it just the poor economy or are AVMs replacing even BPOs?

I'm not a broker, but I always assumed bpos were done from a desk. I never dreamed anyone would actually get in their car for that kind of money. Never dreamed they do that sitting at a desk either though.

That BPO law took about 50k a year from my pocket. I was doing a lot of foreclosure/2055's and about 3 months after that law was passed, they all went away. Last time I spoke to a bank employee, they said that 2055 foreclosure work was still there, but its all going to BPO's instead.

Of course, I also heard they are moving to BPO's for other work as well.

Silly me, I was always taught that to offer a professional opinion of value on a piece of property/real estate, you HAD to be a lic/cert appraiser. I remember being taught that day#1 of my first appraiser class.
