Geez, no posts in a year? I hope that somebody still checks in here once in a while! I'm reeling from the fact that after turning down a rural FHA 1004 sent by an unsolicited AMC for 310.00 and sending them the ala mode survey showing 400.00 to be typical, it was immediately reassigned. This can only mean that there's someone out there doing FHA work for less than the published C&R for a land appraisal. Has anyone ever reported these fees to the state board for violating the C&R mandate of the DF? If so did they care?

I have no idea who charges what in your market area, I only know one person for sure is at the same fee as you are. Do you have a lot of appraisers up in your coverage area?

Noreen,

I figure that we lost half of the appraisers in central NH during the "correction", and there weren't many out towards Cheshire county to start with. I see 15 miles between comps on a regular basis, you southern tier folk don't know how good you got it! I still see people coming up from MA to do work in the lakes region, did a review where they used Lake Winnipesaukee comps for a Locke Lake property, yikes. There must be a lot of competition down there to cause some one to drive an hour for a job. Is the market as hot down there as I hear?

Looks like C&R is $350-$375 for the NorthEast http://www.benefits.VA.gov/HOMELOANS/documents/docs/cleveland_fee.pdf

The state board is not enforcing C&R fees. The Federal Reserve board does

The gate keepers to our customary and reasonable fees appear to either be bankers or affliated with the Clinton administration. Interesting.
