Ok, I've tried doing what I was told to do. I searched in the Q&A forum for pages on end, and I haven't found anything on this matter. Alot of Jersey, Ohio and Florida topics, but none regarding California. If you can find me a link, then please post it. But if not, then I'll ask:

For those California appraisers who have taken the state exam, how hard is it? What would you say would be the most important categories/chapters to study? I've been doing my best trying to prepare for the exam. I even took a few days off from work just to study. Any info on the California state exam would be nice. Thank You.

I'm good at test taking and passed the state test on the first try. But it was one of the hardest tests I've ever taken. Much harder than the DRE test for a real estate license and the FHA test was childs play compared to the CA appraiser test.

Not much math, but a lot of ethics, law and property rights. You get 4 hours to answer 100 questions on a PC. Plenty of time. Answer all of the questions, eliminate the least likely answer and don't let the proctor catch you causing a disturbance or engaging in any kind of misconduct. :P

Once you've been issued an entrance to exam letter, they will send you a booklet that will answer many of your questions.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info.
So you recommend really studying the USPAP?

Also, where did you take your test? I've heard they have it in Fresno and Sacramento.

Test company is "Promisor" Test locations in Sacramento, Riverside, San Diego, Glendale, Bakersfiled, Oakland, Las Vegas and Reno. Phone number is 800-274-7488.

Here's some test questions:

woo hoo!

I got them all right.

Too bad I passed that test 3 years ago.

Taking the AR test in a week or so.

I don't know if this is good or not, but I feel really good about answering all of them right.
