20% of the land area within my defined neighborhood is used by a cemetery.

Land use is commercial or other for the 1004 URAR?

How fricking big is that cemetery !!!!! Expand your neighborhood?

Well, no one is using it commercially. It's not agriculture. And lots of folks live there forever. It's "residential".

Other use.
only occasional traffic,
no noise,
no pollution,
no stress on the infrastructure,

I put "OS/public" in the one blank category in the land use grid, and then fill it in. "OS" is "open space" and "public" would be schools, parks, etc. I can always add an additional item in that category in the addendum where I explain what "OS/public" reflects.

But I agree with Marion; it is "other" as in it doesn't fit neatly into the other typical categories we use.

Other use. Explain in the addendum.

"Positive influence on the neighborhood....people are dying to get in!"

I was hoping for some residential use jokes...

Some delivered a chuckle, some didn't but I digress,

Terrell the subject is located in an urban area of Metro Detroit developed in the 1920's and folks been pushing up daisies there since before that. Its just under a quarter section or 30+/-acres.

Actually,
due to religious, or superstitious concerns, I like that the cemetery is a large part of the neighborhood. That way, any "influence" stip, real or perceived can be whisked away with the proximity of the comps to the cemetery.

I looked at one, 22 acres zoned for residential with a permitted use as a nursing home. Thought about it as H&B, and wondered if it would be a good idea for old folks to look out their windows at all the head stones.

Some days this is an interesting profession, others, not so much.

Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills is surrounded by cemeteries. :peace:

There is a benefit to the hospital if the mortuary is also close by. Plus it saves on body transpiration costs.
