Changing professions but still using your valuation expertise

My colleague, a certified real estate appraiser with over 25 years of experience, is a mid-career professional seeking a new opportunity. I am looking for serious suggestions for full-time employment opportunities in related fields. If you have experience working as a real estate appraiser for the state or federal government and have successfully transitioned to full-time employment in another field, I would be grateful for your insights. Please reply to this thread or send me a private message.

Thank you for your time

Logically, valuation expertise is necessary in insurance underwriting and adjusting. My uncle was an underwriter and adjuster for a small insurance company. I'd be checking that out. Many of the past forumites also work with FEMA as contractors during storm events in disaster estimating. I've known several ag related appraisers who work or have worked as reviewers for FmHA/USDA.

I have no idea what licensing or training requirements are.... but, a smart guy who is both pointed out that the skill set for appraiser is very similar to the skill set of a private investigator. Really... for any investigator.
