There is a thread on the brokers forum that asks about a property that relies on a cistern for it's water supply. Initially I cited the 4150.2 stating that properties served by cisterns are unacceptable.

But he later posted that the property has water hauled in from the city. Is this property still not eligible or would a storage tank instead of a cistern meet the MPRs?

I am just heading out the door.

First question. Does he has available power, and what type, to pump water. Don't take this as a redneck question.............but we have two issues--quanitity of domestic water MPR flow rate for starters; that is of course what the "container" is full. And on going quality of water; if this is "carried in", what about ongoing testing for quality?

4150.2 minimum flow rates used to be 7gpm, I think they were reducted to 3 gpm???????

Are properties with cisterns eligible for FHA financing?
Answer

As a general rule, cisterns are unacceptable. However, the HOCs have the authority to consider waivers in areas where cisterns are typical.

Thanks Rex. I copied and pasted your answer in the broker blog.

Are you like the Doc Manhattan of the broker's forum?
