Good morning, everyone

I am a current Realtor in PA and I newly joined this site since I am hoping to become a Residential Real Estate Appraiser. I am having difficulty with locating a local appraiser to mentor with, when the time comes. I wanted to ask if anyone feels I would be more desirable as a mentor if I register and take the coursework first. I was trying to locate an appraiser prior to registering for the courses to cover myself, but I am feeling like just diving in to the coursework and searching around while taking the classes.

Can anyone offer me any suggestions? Thank you!

You enjoy looking at this site.. have you been reading it? It is full of dire projections for the appraisal profession. Fannie and freddie are green lighting waivers/value acceptance ( no appraisal) for a number of loans, and pushed for alternate lower paid piece man appraisals in some cases )

I would caution against pursuing it as a profession because even some established appraisers are struggling.

That said, if you are determined to go ahead, there is an education/license path called PAREA ( research it ) which replaces the traditional mentor path .(whether all or part, I am not sure)
