Disto X4 for $309

I compared the features between the X4 and the more expensive E7500i. The only features the X4 lacks are Trapezium, Sloped Object, Height Profile, and a distance of 500 ft. vs 660 ft. Those aren't features I'd use anyway.

Keep us updated! Try transferring bluetooth measurements to your sketching software and see if that is a timesaver for you.

The disto x4 is NOT compatible with Total for mobile bluetooth transfer. They have been working on a "fix" for 2 years. I just purchased one and called support when I couldn't get it to work properly. Now the decision is whether it is worth the extra $ for the bluetooth. I'm thinking I will exchange for the 7500. My biggest concern is if I get to the last wall and it doesn't square up is it easy to edit if I don't have all of the measurements written down. Opinions??

If you compare the specs between the X4 and the 7500 they both come with Bluetooth V4 so I was curious if that was working properly. I sure like everything else about the X4 but I would want it to bluetooth interface with Apex properly before I pulled the trigger on it. If Total for mobile doesn't recognize it I doubt Apex would either, thanks for keeping us updated!.

Just got it an hour ago and my first thought after testing it was "Why didn't I buy this sooner?".

The X4 does have Height Profile after you update through the app. Not sure that's helpful to appraisers though.

The Pythagoras and Smart Horizontal Modes will be useful when there's no line of sight on a wall.

The ridiculous thing is installing the lanyard. I had to consult a youtube video to install it and had to rig a staple as a hook to pull it through.

I have been using an X4 for a couple of weeks now and happy to report that the bluetooth functions very well with Apex V7 and my Surface Go2. I had been using the Bluetooth with a Disto 330i with an IBM ThinkPad10 successfully but I was never happy with the amount of time required to get them synchronized and communicating properly and the 330i had the additional disadvantage of not functioning well (error 256?!?!) in bright sunlight. This new Disto X4 is transferring measurements into Apex as soon as I press the Bluetooth button, the full-color screen is actually usable as a viewfinder in bright sunlight and it has been saving me time and many additional keystrokes. Quite often you don't even have to look at the Disto for extended periods of time, the measurement appears on the input line, you press the appropriate direction arrow then, press enter and move onto the next measurement – the sketching software rounds up or down to the nearest unit of measure and eliminates keyboard entry error which has always been an issue in the field. Still waiting on the "LiDAR equipped drone" that will whiz around taking all these measurements while I supervise but until then this Disto X4 is a step forward and highly recommended.

How does it compare to the BOSCH GLM400CL Blaze Outdoor 400 ft Bluetooth Connected Laser Measure with Camera & Lithium-Ion Battery?

So old school here, 100 ft reel tape, no worries about sun/wind/ rain, carry cloth for roll up - been using for 25 years, think I paid $15 when purchased. Doesn't download to blue tooth or directly to the computer, no batteries needed.

Not that there's anything wrong with what you like to do, just don't see the point at this stage of the game.

Been using an X4 for about 3 months now. Love some of the features. One big complaint though is the screen display is almost impossible to see in bright sunlight. Its nice that there is a camera mode to help spot that red dot 100' away, but if you cannot see the camera display, that does not help much.

Was it worth the money though? I would say yes.
