I have an FHA appraisal with an exterior door that was removed and to cover the opening, vinyl was used to overlap the aluminum siding and nailed.

1. The work was not completed in a Workman like fashion
2. The exterior of the home, I would be considered to be damaged in this area and fall under needed repairs for FHA.

I do not believe that the complete side needs to be replaced, just installed correctly with J channels.

I would be OK with it. Those are hard to get right unless you remove entire length with new material. Its not a Health & Safety Issue and its never going to be perfect.

It's not appealing, that's for sure. But I fall on Glenn's side too. A cost to cure, without a doubt, for the cosmetic repair for its market value impact.

I assume the dented stuff is metal... So why the patch? Was there a door or a window there? I had the side of my house put new vinyl after 30 years because of hail damage. Just replaced one side. Vinyl gets brittle. It will take considerable punishment until that time. And at the time it only cost $2,800 to recover 400 SF- $7 a SF... that's not very expensive. I think I'd call it out and recommend the siding be replaced.

Yes, There was an entrance on that side that was removed. They did a good job on the interior with the walls and a renovation, just lacked a bit on the exterior.

It's not done in a workman like manner. Not your call. You just report it like it is.
