Is there anyone here who currently works for the fed as an appraiser and/or reviewer? I am considering going through the lengthy process of making sure my USA jobs resume is exact and wanted to see if anyone could explain what a "day in the life" of a fed appraiser looks like. I'm a certified general with no designation and 5.5 years experience and just want to see if this would be a good fit.

Thanks Yall

As an appraiser who has and is working within Federal Service, I can say that is will depend on the agency that you work for. The agency that I am currently working for has a excellent work life balance. I have worked for one agency that expended the appraiser to work as many hours it took to get the task done, and the comp time was used. That said, it was a smaller agency. Most of the agencies, are a well balanced work life.

Thanks for the reply; the IRS has an open posting for a direct hire that I am currently considering applying for. That's no "small agency" as you note in your reply so hopefully I would be dodging those issues.

The IRS has a good rating for work life balance, the support rating of the uppers management is not that great. It is what one makes of it.
