FHA - Appraiser Number?

I was recently added to the FHA appraiser roster. I'd done work for FHA loans when I was training, and I'm glad, since it adds an entirely new complexity to the already quirky nature of appraisal.

Today though, I was asked for my "FHA Appraiser Number" by a client of mine. I've never heard of this, and when I told the client this, they said it was mandatory to have a Appraiser Number issued by FHA.

I don't know remember anything about an FHA Number, and I've read many times on the FHA Appraiser Roster Page that "Appraisers who are approved for placement on the roster will not receive formal notification".

Any help?

It's the same as your appraiser license number. Or maybe it IS your appraiser license number. No...I think it's the same as your appraiser license number.

I believe it's your license/certification number preceeded by your two letter state abreviation.

Client is an idiot.If they don't know there is no FHA number just how do they expect to precess loans............sheeeeesh..

I believe an appraiser's FHA # is the two digit state code followed by eight numbers. the last of the numbers is your state license number. For example if your state license number is 1234 the FHA number would be MN00001234. If you pull your name up on the roster page it will list it.

I have an appraiser number, course I got it in 1983
they were called Chums #'s, anyone remember??

The last number I knew that I had was also a chums number, also in 1983. Glad to see there are some other chums here.
