I cannot remember for the life of me how to check the status of an FHA case number. I just had a lender request I update the appraisal to their new case number because the old one expired. What are my steps with this type of request? Totally mind fog here

It is accessed through FHA Connection, but I believe only lenders are authorized to check status. Also you cannot simply change the FHA number on an appraisal you have already submitted. The effective date cannot be before the new number was assigned. If they just sent you the wrong number you can ask them to email the confirmation they received when they requested the new case. If they messed up then new effective date, new assignment.

Here is the FHA Connection site. You can try but probably won't work:

You could probably call FHA and ask them. They should know when the case number was assigned.

The fastest way to resolve this is to change the case number and resubmit.
The effective date cannot be before the new number was assigned.
Correct. When you resubmit, if they get an EAD error, you'll hear about it, at which point it's a new assignment.
