I am thinking about applying with HUD and was wondering what the typical fee is for FHA appraisals. Can someone give me an idea about what the going rate would be?

I generally charge 10% more than my standard fee.

TC

I charged an additional $50 for FHA, back when I had to fill out the 5 page VC form & the HBS.
Now, no additional charge for FHA.

$375-$425
If it's a MH, the fee starts at $500. I really, really don't want to do those. :)

They are a headache. $400.00 minimum

Nothing to em..No VC Sheet , No hombres form , just any MPR Items noted on 3rd page of URAR , Peeling paint (1978 Back) , Heating , Cooling , safety hazards ETC...

I still check the attic, crawlspace, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and site hazards so an FHA appraisal STARTS at $460. Manufactured home FHAs start at $485.

Bad idea.

Their is no such thing as a "going rate" for appraisal work. You need to keep in mind that asking such a question and participating in such a discussion is a violation of federal antitrust law. While a single appraiser is not much of a target and unlikely to be prosecuted individually, past interpretations of the law would allow all members of the forum to be prosecuted as a group, even the members who do not actively participate in the discussion. Several thousand appraisers is a nice target for prosecution.

There are many legal ways to set competitive prices for one's services. Discussing what they should be with others in the same field is not one of them. More than any other issue, moderators should put a stop to this type of discussion, IMHO.

Greg, I have not seen any discussion here regarding fees that hasn't turned into an argument with appraisers disagreeing about fees all over the board. I've never seen it turn into anything that could resemble 'price fixing' and am of the opinion that would be as impoosible to do with appraisers as the old 'herding cats' analogy.
