Does HUD have a hotline for Mortgage Abuse!

I have a guy in writing stating his estimate of value was a predetermined value.

NO REFUND, I hope to punish him!

Here is his words!

That’s funny, you said I didn’t ask for a preliminary comp check. I am not trying to argue with you or point fingers I just want to do what’s right for the Papila’s. I wasn’t asking you to commit fraud. I was asking if you could see if you could find another grand or two to see if we could do something to help out “our” customer. At this point, if you could help them out I am working for free on this file. I don’t want “our “ customer to be out $325 for nothing. I am sorry about the miscommunication. I just thought we both might be able to move a little bit to help the Papila’s out since they are the people who are losing in this situation.

Thank you,

Mr. Crook

I contacted them last week over someone fishing for an FHA appraiser to "look past" some minimum property standard issues. I called the bolded phone number below and spoke with a real person.

Thank you for contacting the FHA Resource Center. Please see the following response to your inquiry.

I apologize about your previous response. It appears that it was missing the appropriate answer to your question. You make many valid points in your email and we appreciate your willingness to express your thoughts. I believe the best recourse would be to report these instances of fraud. Below will be the guidelines for how to report them.

If you are aware of fraud, waste, and abuse in HUD programs and operations, it is important to report it to HUD's Inspector General (IG) hotline. You can report fraud to the IG hotline in a variety of methods. They include:

E:mail: hotline@hudoig.gov (Remember: if you submit your complaint online (through e-mail), it is possible - though unlikely - that others could read it since the internet is not secure).

By Telephone: Call toll free: 1-800-347-3735; TDD: (202) 708-2451

By Facsimile: (202) 708-4829

By Mail: Department of Housing & Urban Development
Office of Inspector General Hotline
Assistant Inspector General for Investigations
451 7th Street, S.W., Room 8270
Washington, DC 20410

For further assistance please contact the FHA Resource Center at HUD@custhelp.com or by calling 1-800-225-5342 (1-800-CALL-FHA).
