I have a well/septic home located in close proximity to an active farm, in IL. I have made the appraisal subject to a water quality test and just received a "Water Test" report that was completed for only "Microbiological issues". I have tried to research what the requirements are for this test, thinking it would be primarily for the potential chemical contaminants, based on why the test has been requested, but unable to locate these requirements.

Does anyone have any guidance or direction on the guidelines or requirements for this test, I am fairly confident the provided water test is not sufficient.

Thank you for your help!

1- No : This is a test mostly for ( biological ) not chemical and because you are on well and septic that is also an-issue because if your septic is leaching into the water supply you will become sick from bacterial issues .

2- Microbiological Testing tests for using faecall--> ( means bacteria ) NOT CHEMICAL The Escherichia Coli and these bacteria are chosen to indicate the presence of faecall-bacteria animal and human contamination rather than identifying pathogens directly.

3-( VOCs ) Volatile organic compounds = Industrial Fuels or related chemicals

4- Nitrate = Are the nitrate levels unusually high ?

5- If your concern was your well and your septic and the adjacent farm your test may be adequate - BUT - if you are concerned the farmers fertilizers -nitrates-fuels and or other chemicals have leached into the ground water then you want to contact your test center and see what was covered in your test . There is a good chance you may require a more extensive test of not only the water but soil samples also.
