If you primarily don't do business through AMCs, are you competing against AMCs alone or are you organizing efforts with other appraisers/appraisal firms to better compete against AMCs?

Lets play all die together, do not take any orders from AMCs. The AMCs can't afford to play this, but we can. We can choose to let it fail completely and get back up as long as your appraisal licensed still active.

We need to reformat that nasty hard drive and perform new installation.

Not all AMCs are evil. Sometimes AMCs will pay decent fees. I decline, counter bid or just move on. There is so much energy wasted on this forum with regard to defeating the evil AMCs. The ones that don't pay decent fees have been in business for many years paying those same low fees. It is not new. Just don't work for them, just like before. They existed way before the HvCC and really are not going anywhere.

How's that working out for you?

Excellent. I brought in a client in my market so there are several members in my market getting steady work. Their corresponding lender has approved the NVS nationally. Like everything it is slow going but it is going and getting better everyday.

And how would appraisers compete against AMCs?

I have gotten one of my old clients to use the Appraisal Firewall system (works great) and another to use the NVS. It is possible Pete.
