I am trying to locate flood data specifically the date and zone code online? Does anyone have a link that they can share... I thought FEMA had that info available for the public...but I've been searching thru their site and only found the map # so far?

I would also appreciate it anyone has a link or can recommend software to quickly find Census tract info? I know Tiger makes this availabe via CD-Rom, but is their an online alternative that isn't fee based? Anyone have any pointers on this?

Thank you in advance. Finally work is beging to come in after a long dry spell! :D How is it going for the rest of you new appraisers and the veterans?

Regards,
Vic S.

I've used the site below for some time now and I'm very happy with it. It costs about $20 per month and can be billed directly from your credit card. The floodmaps are easy to get and the navigator is user friendly.

They also have census tract information right along with the floodmap (you just click the census tract link)

It's worth every penny, in my opinion.

BTW, I'm not a salesman for that company, just a satisfied customer :D

Hi Vic:

Online flood maps - free are here FLOOD MAPS

Census Tracts are here CENSUS TRACTS

Both sites are free. The flood maps take a little manipulation, but I can usually get a printed firmet in 5 mins.

Hal

Thanks to all that posted...

I do have a few more questions though. I have been to the FEMA site and looked at the viewable maps. They give you the Map # but not the Flood Zone area or Date of the Map? Does anyone know where this info can be found online?

Thanks for the Census Tract link...very handy. Definite Favorite Bookmark!

Hope 2004 is busy for everyone...finally orders are trickling in... is this year going to feel like the little boy with his finger holding back the ocean at the dike!... We'll have to wait in see..... :o

I've used Flood Insights via ACI for the past 8 months. Pretty good cost was nominal and all I do is hit a link on ACI and it gives me the information including a pretty map to print out. Imports the information as well right into the form.

Actually you are not going far enough .... click on the green dot and the IntraNETix viewer will get you the actual map ... complete with zones and dates and map numbers ... a little manipulation and it looks like this ..... Let me know if you need any help .... ;)

Vic,

I am guessing you don't use AlaMode. They have a feature that automatically pulls this info into your reports with the click of a button. It is considered an upgrade, so I haven't gotten it yet. After normal business volume resumes, I will be upgrading to it. The time it will save me will be justified easily in the first year and it is only a one-time fee. You also have the capability to include the flood maps in your reports, but this is an ongoing cost.

Doug

I use Alamode with a simple click it imports both census tract and flood map info.

Did book mark those two links just in case, thanks Hal!
