it appears one accesses the covered patio/ concrete/cement slab/carport from the double driveway door..... I'm referring to what appears to be a white garage door with aluminum hinges recessed into the home.

no - that white garage door opens into the alley. it is not attached to the home. you can see a white vehicle parked in said carport. the one we are talking about is right above the big truck and trailer parked in the alley

they are weird though, aren't they? when you pull in the carport you drive right into your back yard - look out fido and children! also have the zero lot line thing so some carports have a block wall which is the neighbors fence...

yup - in this neck o' the woods - they are used as covered Patios due to the potential hazard, cars park on the driveway.

If it had a barn door would it be a barn? No.
Carport it is.

A carport with a garage door is still a carport. Stand back folks, this is not rocket surgery but may cause a pause.

We have lots of those here in the city usually in garden home communities or duplexes/townhomes. I've even done a couple that had two walls on the sides, but open ended facing the house. And yes some agents here call them garages too, so just another reason you should verify information using multiple sources. In some areas, it's even posh to have a decorative sliding gate or swinging doors for the carport.

It's a car-port * The garage door is just there so the occupant has privacy . In my area nobody likes alleys anymore because there is typically a lot of different activity going on at night and car theft is just one of the problems. *** In this project it looks like a nice neighborhood and the garage door on the car-port is a really good idea.
