I take my Certified General exam tomorrow. I have been studying the AI online "Practice examination questions for real estate appraisers" and also have the book, which is pretty much the same thing. I am doing good on the practice questions. Has anyone taken the exam recently, that also used the "Practice examination questions for real estate appraisers" as their primary study guide? Did that work well? I'm in Texas.

davlin - After taking the test, I am interested in your thoughts on the practice exam questions and the test overall. I am hoping to be taking my cert gen. appr test in Tx within the next couple of months. I hope the test went well for you.

The appraisal institute has a book by Mark Ratterman that is so similar to the test that is was like a retest. The book is
Practice Examination Questions for Real Estate Appraisers.

Free appraisal test prep website at www.appraisaltests.com. It's kind of a pet project of mine that will be free for a while as I'm still trying to figure out how to monetize it. It has a lot of general prep stuff, a little trainee, a little MAI and almost zero residential right now. Going to take another few months if I can find the time to add more practice questions. It's a lot more time intensive than I thought it would be. LOL. I'm learning computer programming as well so forgive anything that isn't perfect.

I recently took and passed the Cert Gen test. Used AIs practice exam questions and also took John Urubek's Comprehensive Review of Appraisal Concepts course. The AI book is good for vocab. Urubek's course and course materials, including practice questions, was an invaluable resource. Can't recommend it highly enough. I also spent a good amount of time reading and re-reading USPAP. Those were the trickiest questions. Good luck.
