  1. If one wants become a Certified General Appraiser in Georgia, can they go strict from Trainee Appraiser to Certified General? or do they need to reach the other appraisal levels first? (i.e. Licensed Residential Appraiser or Certified Residential Appraiser)
  2. Say the individual work for a company that would pay to become an appraiser for commercial properties only, do they still need any work hours in residential properties to become a Certified General Appraiser?

That's a state specific question.

In this state, no, you don't need residential experience to become a CG.

Check your state licensing agency.

Question 1...yes, trainee to CG
Question 2...no, log must be more commercial vs residential. Be aware land appraisals for eminent domain also fall into commercial hours if meets USPAP

You can go straight from Trainee to Certified General.

I recommend checking the specific state requirements. In my home state of NY, the answer is no. In fact, one of my experience logs was rejected when I applied for the CG credential, because I had only put commercial assignments on it. And that was with me being a CR for nearly 20 years.
