Hello from Alaska

Hey everyone! I am an appraisal trainee in Alaska. I have been working for my MAI boss for about 2 and a half years. I've completed the trainee classes and finished stats and Income I. (Taking Income II in two weeks). My boss is retiring in two years so I am looking to get my general license before that happens.

Welcome. We need new blood ion AF, with the possible regulated demise of our industry. I am sure appraising in Alaska is nothing like appraising in the lower 48. Keep us interested and informed on AK.

Welcome Alaska, I took a course that a fellow from a Alaska flew in to take here in Manchester, NH. He talked about having to go to some of his appointments by airplane, is that something that is factored into your work life or is this unusual? You have found the BEST appraiser site on the net...

Alaska is certainly interesting to appraise in, although, I have nothing to compare it too! I personally do not fly out, yet. My husband would love to get his pilots license to fly me out for jobs. He is already an air traffic controller so it is certainly something we are looking into! I do know many other appraisers who do fly personal aircraft for jobs. My boss was one but since he is getting ready to retire he doesn't fly for jobs anymore. He takes work in Anchorage. But who knows what the future will bring!
