How do you get Total out of "insert mode" when typing?

Somehow I toggled on insert mode in Total where my curser types over already typed content. How do I turn it off? I've been to Tools, configure settings, then forms.....can't find the setting. Keystroke command to turn it off and on would be great.

Thanks.

Somehow you hit the "insert key" on your keyboard and toggled it to "replace". Hit it again, and it will toggle the insert mode back on.

Thanks Mike. The thing is, the HP Spectre X360 15.6 laptops do not have an insert key. Furthermore, while in Word or an email, my input is functioning as it normally should.

It's only in Total that I have the fat cursor replacing text. I hit a command by mistake obviously.

call tech support.

I am a low tech person but sometimes the basics work - unplug everything from the source , wait five minutes, boot up again.

Never heard that, so how do you insert. You found a hidden total glitch.

Per Google:

The 0 Key at the bottom of the number pad on the upper-right corner of your keyboard will function as an Insert Key when Num Lock is turned off. That is why it is labeled with both 0 and Ins on the key itself.

Note that the Shift Key can act as a temporary toggle for Num Lock when you press one of the keypad keys (just like the Shift Key acts as a toggle for capital letters). Therefore, when Num Lock is on, pressing Shift + Numpad-0 will function as an Insert Key.

You can always pull up the on-screen keyboard built into Microsoft and play around with the insert key on that to see what happens.

Sometimes the 'Insert' Key is integrated into the numbers keypad on the right side of the keyboard. Toggle the 'Num Lock' on/off and look for the 'Ins' key on one of the number keys. That's how my laptop is as well. When I don't have an external keyboard hooked up, I have to toggle the 'Num Lock' and 'Insert' keys on the right side keypad.

Number lock off, hit spacebar, and 0 simultaneously did it. Sheesh.... thanks everyone, problem solved.

Now I just need a transported back to the 70's, avocado green counters, with an added second story addition, comp and I'm good to go!
