Hello all. I am scheduled to take my certified exam in a few weeks and I have a question. All of the appraiser QE classes have stressed the use of the Hp-12c while taking the classes. Does anyone know if PSI will let me use this calculator for the certified exam? I asked PSI and was told I could only use non-programmable calculators. It is vague on if the HP-12c is programmable or not. Did any of you use it on your exam? Thanks in advance.

Last I recall, Pearson said it was a mistake, and the 12C was okay. I used a HP65 when I took the MAI exam and was the second person out of the room.

I used my HP12C....that was a while back though way before the thread Elliot posted. I just had to clear it in front of the proctor.

I don’t know how I missed this before I made this post. I went to the State of Ohio website and (in a link to PSI) it shows exactly which calculators are allowed. The HP-12c is permitted. Thanks for the replies.

The only requirement they had when I took the CG exam was that you had to have a copy of HP’s instructions on how to clear your calculator and do so prior to entering the exam. The examiner at my site inspected my calculator and cleared it before sending me in the exam room.
