Contact McKissock and have them resend your classes. I just got my letter from DBPR and it is missing 1 class. I have contacted Bert Rodgers and they are checking on it. A friend of mine is missing 10 hours. So you are not alone. There must be a big mess up on the part of the state.

Of course, the DBPR can make errors in the other direction. My letter from them indicates nearly all my CE is completed. Of course, that is not the case. I have a ten hour shortfall.

Has anyone received a letter with an accurate record of the CE completed?

To ALL Florida Appraisers:

I cannot speak on behalf of the DBPR, but McKissock recently had some problems electronically transmitting the CE rosters to the state board. It appeared as though everything was working fine for the last couple months, but in hind sight, nothing had gotten through since May.

We have been dilligently working with the IT department and thankfully, everything has been resolved today!

If you took courses from McKissock in any of the following locations, we have received confirmation that rosters were received for all seminars:
  • Pensacola - May
  • Jacksonville - May
  • Gainesville - May
  • Naples - June
  • Miami - June
  • Ft. Lauderdale - June
  • Orlando - June
  • Clearwater - June
  • West Palm Beach - July
  • Phoenix - July
We are still working with them on the transmittal of our online courses, but rest assured, we will not let anyone down!!! (I'll post another reply as soon as I receive confirmation of this.)

I appreciate the opportunity to post this information. If you know any other appraisers who are in the same boat, please pass the word along.

Thanks,

PS - I also cannot speak for other providers in Fla, but rumor has it we aren't the only school having this sort of problem, so Jay, it's possible that your situation is similar. I'm sure Bert Rodgers will get to the bottom of this as well. :)

I took 2 McKissock classes this summer on-line. When finished they faxed me a completion letter then mailed me the completion letter to send to the state. Had no problems in TN. They did not send anything to the state. Just to me.

Not all states require that the provider send rosters. Some require that the Appraiser send copies of their CE certificates in with their renewal.

Tennessee (as in David's case) requires that we provide the certificate of completion to the student and only present information directly to the board upon request.

Although Florida has always required that the provider submit rosters, they recently changed their policy to require electronic rosters and that was the problem we were experiencing. (Although I do LOVE the automation! It greatly decreases the human error factor with manual data entry.)

On that note: We have received confirmation from the Florida Board that all Virtual Classroom online course rosters have been received as well.

If anyone is still experiencing problems, please contact us at 1-800-328-2008.

Well,

I don't know now...I need thirty hours, was thinking about the McKissasock classes in Ft Myers on Oct 26/27/28. But, a little apprehensive now. No snafu's in taking your money, but oops on getting your credits to the state? Did hear good things about the classes though. Might check out a local school.

The problem is solved, no more effort needed on my part to rectify and was able to renew license and received new certification in the mail.

Thanks to whoever (probably Mckissock--very good course, I might add)

My only gripe with McKissock is actually a compliment....you can't get Dick McKissock for every course anymore...they've grown so much he can't do it all .....Dick is a great instructor....USPAP is actually enjoyable when he teaches the course. As for getting your credits they have always been very efficient....first class. I'll bet USPAP would be fun when Don Clark teaches it.

B) Bobby,

Don't know if that is a compliment or not, but, either way, come to Virginia in 2005 and you will have the opportunity to see for yourself. Actually, I intend to teach it in Delaware & Maryland in October and November of this year. I will do several in Virginia and North Carolina next year as well as Delaware, Maryland and maybe Pennsylvania. Along with the 7 hour USPAP I will teach a course in Environmental concerns in real estate, Fair Lending and the appraisal process, Fannie Mae Guidelines, and Residential Property Inspection, Analysis and reporting.

BTW, have courses will travel. I will go to any location for 20-30 students depending on remuneration.

I have taught similar courses from coast to coast at one time or another.
