Taking my Indiana appraisal trainee test in 2 weeks. What is the best source of information to study? I have McKissock but I'm not finding all the information outlined on the appraisr trainee exam content out-line. Any help would be apperciated. I have the hear the test was tough.

Not sure if Indiana upgraded their tests. Did you talk to your instructors about the test?

No, I actually took the on-line courses. I have posted several requestes in email for a answers to specific questions. No response thus far. I actually took the test and did not pass, I was very confused. Its not a definition or memory test. Its comprehensive; this is fine. But actually their were questions that are not in the study material. Plottage, alot of title questions, site and improvement description etc. I heard their is a 1500 pool for questions so may'be I just got that weird batch. I am also taking it in Jacksonville, FL. as I dont move to Indy until next week.

Why would you take on line appraisal courses as a trainee. I do not know if those are allowed here in Indiana. Florida may not have reciprocity with Indiana. You better contact the state licensing agency for details.

No I took the Mckioosock trainee package. It has the principles, procedures, Higest and Best Use and USPAP. I was approved by the subcommittee already. I just have to pass my test and I get my liscense as a trainee. I'm working for my grandfather so I'm already 1/2 way to certified.

First and foremost, please take a spelling class to save some poor supervisor some time. I don't mean to be a jerk but if that's how you type reports, it's going to be a long bumpy road.

The test is built for incoming trainees to have a comprehensive knowledge of the business. If you know the "Big Red Book" real well you should be able to pass it easily. It's hard if you have no industry experience. There are online practice tests that you can take, that would be a good place to start.

Good luck.

I am assuming you have the AI Appraising Residential Properties Fourth Edition (it should be a requirement for every appraiser to own). Read the book and comprehend the book and you will pass the trainee and Certified test with a good knowledge of USPAP.

Thanks for the advice

Criticism acknowledged. I did pass my test after I bought a copy. I had Mckissock on-line and that really didn't do the trick. Do you have any advice on how to complete the Certified Appraiser application. The IPL offers no advice on how to calculate hours and what credit is given to each task. Its very confusing.
