For those of you who have used InterFlood from A la mode, what do you think of the service?

Are the maps good?
How often is the image missing?
If the property happens to be on the border between two map panels, does Interflood return multiple maps or just one half-empty one?

We use flood insights.

I did a search for Flood insights on this forum and it sounds like the companies are the same.

If they are I love flood insights so far. Only used it for a month now. You get the census tract and all the codes, zones, dates, ext.

So far every map has come out great.

And it is the easiest thing in the world to paste into your report.

And it matches our location map from microsoft. Not that that matters.

Katharine, do you use Alamode.

I have used Interflood with WinTotal for about 1 1/2 years now.

I have NEVER had it "not" have a map - except in areas where there actually are not any maps available. The key is that Interflood lets you locate the property on a street map first (or, if you use WinTotal, from your built-in location map). If there is a FEMA map, it will display it. If there isn't one, it won't. They say they have every available FEMA map, and I believe they do. I work in some isolated, rural areas of Kansas and they've had every map I need.

The advantage within WinTotal is that once you've pulled a standard location map for the report, the system then already knows the lat/lon. Then, with one click you can simply load the flood map into the report. (no cut-paste, etc.)

The maps are as clear or clearer than any of the CD based services I have used in the past. I have never had the image "missing".

When the maps falls between two pages, Interflood will typically give you a choice of which map to use. It does, however, occasionally show part of the page as blank. This usually occurs because the property is at the very bottom or side of the FEMA map. Because the service always tried to put your property in the center of the page, this will occasionally leave a portion of the page blank.

Good luck,

I had subscribed to Interflood when it first came out. FEMA is in the process of changing their zone "C"s to zone "X". However, they are only making those changes when they update a particular printed map. So it's going to be a number of years before all the maps reflect those changes. Interflood, however, had taken it upon themselves to make those changes themselves even though FEMA has NOT made the change on their printed maps. THAT'S WRONG! I called FEMA and they told me that the correct determination is the one that is on the printed maps. If FEMA hasn't yet changed your area's C's to X's then they are still "C." For that reason alone, the Interflood program is useless.

I changed over to FloodInsights by Transamerica and have been very satisfied. FloodInsights just added aerial photos so that you can manually identify the subject property. That's a fantastic feature. Also, you can locate by latitude and longitude if you have a GPS unit.

At least awhile ago, Interflood was getting their data from Transamerica (then changing the zones!). Why not go with the source?

Pat,

Are you sure you're not confused? Interflood (service provided through alamode) I believe at least partially gets their data from Transamerica.

Further, the Interflood maps are simply scanned copies of the actual FEMA maps - they are not "digital" or "Q3" type plotted data.

I can't imagine they would be "changing" FEMA maps and then advertising them as FEMA maps- what a lawsuit hole that would open up.

That was my understanding.

I double checked some old emails I had on this subject. Mike Unser, Product Manger at Alamode, confirmed that Interflood gets their data from Transamerica and FloodSource.
