The only alternative is Verizon FIOS if you're in a cablevision (optimum) market.
You can't get Comcast.
I've had optimum for years. They're pricey but they all are after the introductory period and I like their service. Last 2 calls were next day - 3 hour window.

And I hate (hate, hate) Verizon
