Any user opinions here?

The Total Mobile support person suggested the Ipad Air since the difference in weight was so small; but, I am wondering if someone can comment on if the Ipad Mini screen is too small or if the Ipad Air is awkward in the field due to size.

Thanks!

Heck, I use my IPHONE. Except for large homes. I'd think an IPAD mini would be just fine.

I have an IPAD Air 2 only because I like to use it for other things that a mini is too small for.

In fact you might want to try out the IPHONE 6 Plus. Then you have everything in one place. I often upload my stuff right from the field. Can't do that unless you have a separate data plan with an IPAD.

I have been using the iPad and just bought an iPad Air 2. I am 67 and my eyes are shot. It's nice to have a screen size large enough to see the drawing, dimensions, buttons, etc.

I use Siri to dictate notes as I inspect. My hand writing is terrible, can't read what I write.

Technology makes us old guys competitive with you guys that use mini iPads or iPhones. :)

I understand the eyes issue. I have an old IPAD 2, but stopped using it when I got the IPHONE which has a better camera. But the IPAD Air 2 has as good a camera as the IPHONE. When Otterbox comes out with their case I'll start using the IPAD Air 2. And here is some good advise: BUY A REALLY GOOD CASE THAT YOU CAN DROP THAT IPAD ON CEMENT WITH NO DAMAGE OR GET RAIN AND SNOW ON IT AND IT WON'T GET WET. You WILL drop it! I have numerous times. DO NOT SKIMP ON A CASE!!!

I guess the IPHONE works fine for me because I did use a PDA all the time. Screen size is about the same. I've been doing electronically for nearly 10 years.

iPad mini works great with the total app

I have an ipad and am ready to buy the ipad mini

Mini

I went with the iPad Mini 2, not the current version, they are the same except the new one has the finger print scanner and comes in a gold color. If you can live without the bling then you can save some $, for the case or apple care. Another great way to buy is get the apple refurbished. Same warranty, factory reset, new cover/case. Not quite half off the new version, but almost.

I had originally been using the larger iPad, that the wife is now enjoying, and love love love the mini for what we do. It's light, easy to carry all day, fits easy into the briefcase. Very happy with it.

While there is a noticeable weight difference between the old larger iPad and the mini, the new iPad air and air 2 make that difference much less. The difference in $ is probably the only significant difference you'd notice.

I use the Lifeproof Nuud case. Google it. Waterproof, with no additional plastic film over the screen. I use it everyday in our weather and it gets wet all the time. No worries. It was one of the top 3 reasons why I chose ios over android for the device. Otherwise they are very similar in functionality.

One other consideration. If you intend to use voice dictation in the field on an iPad you'll need to be connected to a network or get the wifi + cellular model. Wifi only will require you to have a hot spot open, like your phone in your pocket or whatever for that feature. It is something to do with how Apple processes the Siri/speech to text. The cellular model also gives you GPS and connection for searching your MLS and update your ekey service in the field, again without fumbling for your hot spot connection.

Having had both, the $ hit for the cellular was worth it for me. Your mileage may vary. I would have likely been as happy with the new iPad air 2, so enjoy the process and once you pull the trigger, enjoy using the device. It really has made a significant difference in my work process.

No changed my mind I think I will go with the iphone 6+ I was using my 10" ipad but the pictures were no good. So now I have been using my iphone 4S it's small but everything works including Siri I can say bedroom 3 it gets converted to text and take the picture come back to office and upload to my main computer and everything is in and labeled correctly. Yes I will be getting the iphone 6+ When business pick up.
