Is anyone as sick of alamode's excuses as I am?

I need to vent.....

Ever since we downloaded Aurora, my company has had nothing but problems. Call technical support and all I hear is how I must spend endless administrative hours and dollars to fix problems they created. They should have to reimburse me for all the money my company has lost since switching to this worthless software. Every problem that installing Aurora has caused their technical support has left me to fix.

There should be a class action suit filed by all Aurora users as the program was evidentally sent to us to download without being BETA tested to the extent that would have stopped them from sending us this software to download.

I have reports that are paid in full showing up as past due and reports that are past due not showing up on any past due report. As a firm, I have know way of pulling any report that is truly correct to find out how much in outstanding invoices I have and which ones need collection action.

They should be paying not to use this crap, not charging us for it.

You need to switch to Appraisal Studio. I never have any problems.

No problems here

I have absolutely NO PROBLEMS with Aurora after ALM has made the updates a couple months ago. I originally was going to switch back to earlier version, BUT will not now. I LOVE AURORA.

I did set it up on a new computer and everything transfered and is working fine. The support for my office has been great and I cannot think of a better way to go.

Hang in there

You can always go back to Athena. I realize you are venting, but I think you are going to find that most who have Aurora are staying with Aurora and are happy with Aurora. I don't think you will find to many takers for a class action. Appraisers not happy after using Aurora now have the ability to go back to Athena. Have you tried THAT?

When I intially upgraded it was a nightmare my biggest issue was my Norton Antivirus I had to disable it and program it to work with the software. I upgraded in June of last year at the Orlando convetion it was the 1st cd available so it had alot of kinks now I have no issues. Just work through it I like it better then the old version. Also the free training and Webinars help they are on line. Good luck.

Many people are loading Aurora on a machine that lacks the RAM and the processor needed to handle Aurora.

Athena might have worked fine on that machine, but Aurora is a power hungry beast.

vent club

Charlene, welcome to the club.

Not to make light of your problem, but if you want to resolve them I would suggest you set aside some time with someone who knows about software problems.
Talking to alamode tech support without a clue about the problem is just a waste of time. You need someone at your side who can tell when the newbie techie starts reading the sheets, to stop and escalate your issue to the right person.
5 min. with the right person is better than 60 min. with a lovely talkative nincompoop.
It's too bad that the installation program for Aurora is so bad that it causes so many problems to so many otherwise perfectly working PC's.
Even shareware works better right off the web without ANY issues.
You are right about the messed up beta testing process at alamode. They give a few random users the beta designation and if they don't find anything wrong because they only use 10% of the features, it gets released to ...
you guessed it, PUBLIC BETA

you're the BETA monkey, now see if you can evolve out of it.
it takes time and patience. monkeys cannot sue.
monkey see monkey do.
maybe people at alamode should revisit the movie "Planet of the Apes"
one day, we'll catch up with YOUuuuuuu

Sorry, I am ranting; I have bottled so many little quirks with Aurora, I keep them in for as long as I can and like now, it just does not stay down.

Four more months until I can get back to Studio ... leaving Aurora in the DUST!!! YIPPEE !!! :-)

I don't deal with it anymore

I got smart like Nancy. After months of problems, lost reports, midnight oil rebuilding reports from the crashed program, I switched to Appraisal Studio and love it....as do the other appraisers in the office. NO PROBLEMS!! which means I don't have to listen to alamode's excuses. I still get their email, my subscription doesn't expire til next month, and I laugh about how they are doing all this work to get their program to TRY to work. I am way ahead of the curve now that I dumped Aurora and went to Appraisal Studio. Oh, did I mention that for the cost for just me to renew with alamode for a year, I got everything that we had with alamode for FOUR appraisers in Appraisal Studio!!! I have not found a downside to this change!

As for Athena, one of my trainees, ex software engineer, tried to go back to it and he gave up with comments about the company putting junk out for appraisers to beta test for them.

Good Luck to all with Aurora, I got smart six months ago!

Thanks for the input

I am still frustrated as ****! Can't easily find account receivables that are past due....Auto numbering works sometimes and other times not. Clone vs. merge problems....

The real frustration is calling a la mode's tech support to hear what will fix it is something someone in my office will have to spend hours/days doing.

I wish I had never switched to Aurora, but they told us all tech support was ending for Athena. Everything takes much longer now, even after seven months of working with it. Every person in the firm I work for has issues, except for the appraisers who never switched their stand alone software from Athena. In fear of rolling back without having all the issues resolved with all the reports.

I am going to find out about Appraisal Studio since it got several recommendations from this forum topic.

Thanks!
