Just curious if any of you fine folks have received the "Appraisal Services Agreement" from LandSafe.

If so, what are your thoughts?

do a search...there is a big thread on it....call your E & O...see if they will cover u after u sign it...their response may be all u need....good luck.

I just received the revised updated per-version after refusing to sign my rights away in the first version. I read all 21 pages. Three words come to mind. SOS. Not signing it.

They still want to own my work files, send auditors to my office, make me financially responsible for everything, want to know what my personal and business financial situation is, multiple background checks at their discretion, don't want me to have certain appraisal information on my laptop or blackberry, want me to carry $1M in E&O to get me ready for the anticipated claims as the FDIC comes down on lenders whether the claims against them are my fault or not, want me to be responsible $$$ for any and all claims against them while at the same time signing my life away agreeing to hold them completely harmless for everything. I could go on and on, including the requirements for "Security Audits."

No where in the 21 pages did they suggest that the appraiser actually has any rights to anything except the constant threat of multiple audits, and that I am financially responsible for these "audits" if they don't like what they saw in the first audit.

All this and more...for $280 per pop. KMA.

About a month ago I got a call from LandSafe. I told them any appraiser with an ounce of brains will not sign this agreement. The only appraisers that will sign it have no clue...about contracts or appraising...because it's obvious they can't read and have no comprehension skills. Anyone signing this is an idiot. And that will become their pool of "quality" appraisers as they drop the appraisers who will not sign.

Gotta go. My new job as the WalMart greeter starts in 20 minutes.

In our area, 98% of the stuff is done by staff appraisers and we only got the stuff outside their area. We refused to sign the agreement, still getting the same stuff we got anyway. The downside of the liability factors far exceeds any income you might get.

for whatever it's worth...not every area got the new contract til just this week or last....so many appraisers are seeing the new contract for the first time.
