Quick question, is anyone using one of these new flat screen monitors with the screen that rotates? Seems like a nice feature for us legal form users. If so how does it work and what appraisal software do you use. Any conflicts?

Thanks!

I am also interested in the portrait monitor for legal form filling. Which ones are you looking at?

HAD ONE! 2 months ago I purchased View Sonic 17" rotating monitor. It "was" great and worked ok with my Ala mode software. "Kinda." Had to tweak the settings for large type because the resoulution was so high that the icons were sooo small for my "old" eyes. :rainfro: Once it was set I really enjoyed the legal screen.
It went bad in the middle of typing a rush report, the screen went black. Spent the next 2 hours trying to find what happened. I just could believe it was my "new" monitor. Comp USA the place of purchase said "too bad, so sad" no returns after 14 days!
There are no repair shops in my area to do warranty work on the View Sonic. The factory help line said to place it in it's "original box" and ship it to California! ORIGINAL BOX! I recycled it a month ago! Ok after several calls one of the supervisors said to pack it so it could not be damaged in shipment and send it with the documentation. That was last week!
Of course I can't wait a week between working on reports so I now have a 19" flat screen by NEC not purchased a Comp USA.
I'll let you know if I ever use the View Sonic again

Dick, welcome to the forum! Since this topic was posted I’ve found numerous monitors through CNET that have this option. Both have a screen that pivot or “spin” 90deg.

Try:
Dell 1801fp
Eizo FlexScan L795
IBM T560

The down side may be any tool bars which now appear on the left or right side of your screen. If you switch to portrait you have less room on the sides. It’s also an expensive monitor. It’s on my “want” list and not my “need” list for the time being.

The wish list is correct. Try a double monitor set-up. It makes it easy to move the desktop to the second monitor and use the first monitor for the forms.

How exactly do you set-up and use a double monitor system?

Just installed my new Samsung SyncMaster 191T, but haven't tried the pivot feature yet. Too blamed busy! Very happy with it so far otherwise. (I don't even need my glasses with this thing!)

A double monitor system setup will depend on your configuration.

I'm running XP with a dual monitor graphics card. I plug both monitors into the graphics card, then use the screen background Properties - Setup window to setup the monitor details. I have a 19" CRT and a 17" LCD, works fine, slide the mouse back and forth between the screens.

Some mother boards may have dual monitor support built in, you may consider a dual monitor graphics card or possibly a 2nd graphics card for your 2nd monitor. Talk to your local tech people and see what they recommend for your configuration or see if you can find something on the web for your config.

Once you have two monitors, you'll never go back. Works great for displaying info on one screen and entering info on another screen. I also have a tv card in my machine so if there is something interesting I can watch it on the 2nd screen while I perform the no-brainer tasks.

bueno suerto.
