Lately, a map reference number has been auto populating in my reports. It is a 5 digit #. What is it and how would I refer it is correct?

The 5 digit number is the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) number. The link below has more information on the MSA and how to enable/disable it for Aurora and TOTAL.

BTW, this answer was provided to me by a la mode as I wondered the same thing.

With GPS units killing off the map book companies it would be a good idea to standardize this field as longitude and latitude. The MSA number covers a lot of ground.

A map reference number is about as useful to appraisers as a Polaroid camera...

back when i used alm it gave the exact same "map number" for every appraisal i did in 3 different counties. it was useless.

It's the MSA number, and they indeed span counties. It doesn't matter what we put in, some will call it "useless". If we put nothing, 100% would complain.

I use the local MLS map # code.

Easy to explain if need be.

I like that idea.
