Actually, this is like the third person I have heard of in this area who have passed, two who had strokes and one congestive heart failure, six people, all appraisers. When I hear these events, I think of Mike Garrett and his 4 day work week and I think he's smarter than the average bear. We have to maintain our own balance because this can suck the life right out of you.

Cancer is killing everyone I know. Lost a cousin in December to it. Attended a fellow's funeral last Friday - but he was 81 - pancreatic cancer. But lost a friend who was 51 - breast cancer. My old appraiser partner was killed by melanoma. My college roommate died at 57 - pancreatic cancer. The "old timer" appraiser here died of mouth cancer - he had smoked years before. Both of my parents died of it, and I have a CT scan this morning for a nodule discovered in my lungs three months ago, but my brother died of Shy Drager aka MSA syndrome...that's worse than cancer. (nodules are common- so the doctors really don't think the nodule will turn out to be anything. Hopefully they are right.)
