Wow the Tigers look good, I cannot wait for Saturday's game against Kansas.

My 11 year old is coming out of his skin to see this game!

A lot has happened since this was first posted. The latest......

In retrospect, the Cotton Bowl was a perfect fit for Missouri. Chase Daniel is from Dallas and they recruit heavily down there. That and it's a 12 to 15 hour drive from most of the state, so a lot of folks, including students, can make the trip.

Before the Big 12 and BCS, the Orange Bowl was the ultimate goal for Missouri. Doesn't seem that way any longer. Now days, the luster has gone off all of them, except for the Championship game. A bowl is a bowl is a bowl, so long as it's not the Toilet Bowl in some little town with one motel. The whole bowl thing has taken a big step backwards in my opinion.

The reality is that MO has already played 3 bowl games this year. Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma. Arkansas makes 4.

Tough schedule played against many teams that at one point did make the top 25.

Best year we ever had. I hate the BCS system, however fairness could never have been accomplished this year.

I grew up in Missouri, 15 years in the KC area. When I was there Norm Stewart was God, Missouri basketball was king, and the Kansas City Kings (NBA) sucked.

Norm was the best thing since sliced cheese and apple pie for Missouri basketball.

The Chiefs were king, every game sold out, offense was best in the NFL, Missouri football sucked in Columbia.

Tables have turned......the Chiefs offensive line is terrible and U of M is in a bowl.

On Norm Stewart......not God....but in retrospect....some kind of deity.

A few years ago, Al Eberhard was inducted into MO sports hall of fame. I knew Al from school and several of us were invited over to Al's house for a post award party. Norm was there and entertained us for about 2 hours with stories from his 30 years. A lot goes on during those games that is not so obvious from watching.

Monday night, MO struggled early, then clobbered a small school team from North Carolina and Norm was the color commentator for the TV broadcast. Local paper yesterday said the broadcast with Norm was more entertaining than the game. He still has it.

BTW, most of the sports teams at U of MO are doing well. All up and down the line (well....maybe not the golf teams). The wrestling team was ranked #1 in the country last year.
