I'm hoping someone here has experience with this problem or a shortcut b/c I can't seem to find a workaround.

I had my addenda broken down into three separate 'forms' (three blank cover letter forms) - SOW Clarification Addendum, SCA Addendum, and Supplemental Addendum - totaling about 10 pages. All three of them function and look like the multi-page supplemental addendum form; I like having them separate because it segregates them out in the TOC and I refer to them often in the URAR. However, it seems like whenever I merge them into a new file in WinTotal 2010 (in happens in Aurora too) they become one messed-up, out of order, multi-page addendum rather than three autonomous forms.

I don't get it - has anyone figured out a solution so that it may prevent me from wasting an entire day trying to figure it out.

Thanks in advance!

I don't work the way you describe so I don't have a report with which to run a test, but have you tried merging the addenda one at a time? It would be a bit more work, but less than starting fresh or fixing the mess.

I have at least 5 different multi page addendum's in every report. I have never had this problem. I use one for comments carryover, one for scope, one for additional limiting conditions and certification, one for my qualifications page, and one which has my license on it. However, I do not merge then into reports, but I clone entire reports. What I have done is set up a skeleton report for every appraisal type, say VA, FHA, Condo, 1004, 1004 REO, which each have all of the appropriate addenda already inserted and filled in (as much as possible). Then I clone this report to create a new report, and all addenda are already in place ready to go.

I have never tried merging, so I cant help you there...

CP - in Aurora, that's when it would get messy. If I merged them all in at one time it would go smoothly. It's just not working at all in 2010. But, to a la mode's credit, they contacted me within minutes of this post. That's pretty impressive.

Incog - I think this is the way I'll end up going. I always avoided skeletons because of the way I go through the report .. I like starting out with just a blank URAR, or whatever form, and then I start merging in things. I also use a lot of quicklists so that's why I never used the skeletons. But, I guess I could just hit the much dreaded SHIFT + DELETE whenever I open up a new clone. Ooo, SHIFT + DELETE, that just sends chills down my spine after I found what it did ... the hard way. LOL.

Yeah, I have done that more than once. m2:

What idiot (sorry to whoever it was) would create a shortcut to erase an entire report, without triple confirmation? There are dozens of hot key combinations available in Wintotal, and I have created another dozen or so of my own. I enter these blindly, by memory, and hit enter out of habit to confirm. But having a hot key (SH-del) for DELETE the whole FLIPPING report without multiple confirmations is just dumb! I finally went in to customize and killed the functionality of clear current field, clear selected fields, and most importantly clear entire form.

Sorry - and it probably wasn't anything short of blood-boiling at the time - but it's pretty funny looking back and thinking of the terror that occurred in your and my offices the days that entire reports were deleted.

Shift+Delete

Just cruising the forum and wanted to mention that we've long since gone back and added a confirmation for the Shift+Delete command. It asks, "Are you sure?" but we'll look at adding a double confirmation. Yes, that would be pretty maddening. :)

Thanks Adam, but it is pretty easy to just remove the hot key command altogether. (The command is still available from the Edit menu though, if it was needed). It is one of the better, and probably least known features, being able to create (or make new) hot key combinations for many different functions!

thanks incognito, i hadn't even really thought about the prospects of creating my own hot keys even though - I guess - I have become somewhat of a power user of 'Total.

a la mode is on the ball. Adam forwarded my problem to quality assurance and he said they'll be fixing the addendum problem in Total 2010 over the next several weeks (not in this week's scheduled update).

In the meantime, I've adopted Incognito's skeleton approach and it has worked. I cloned a report with all of the separate multi-page addenda and they remained intact even after trying my hardest to screw it up. :)

Templates

I have a file folder in my file cabinet that is called "Templates" ( I use Athena still. )

I have templates for 1004, 1004 with 1004MC, FHA, Relo, 1004GP, etc.

All my "canned" statements make the trip as part of the template, and I don't have to worry with cloning, except that I use the "clone" feature to get the correct template for my new report.

Then I just add the pages I need for maps, graphs, scanned data, etc.

Keeps everything simple for a simple old guy! :)
