Thanks:sad:

There's not really much else you can do but study. We really can't help you pass, but only offer our support. Do you know what areas you are lacking in? Do you have a study guide or study software to help you? Not only did I literally memorize the textbooks, but I used additional study software to take practice tests. The practice tests help you get used to the wording of exam questions. It was a very big help for me.

Don't reschedule until you KNOW that you know it!! :new_multi:

Hi

Well actually i have 1001 question and answer book by Harrison and also book by Fisher and Tosh

the thing is that last 2 times i took the test none of the question came exactly from the book..i mean it comes but it was different in state exam...the reason i am soo desprate to pass bcoz of new laws after 2008 ...

i have few questions which i remember from past state exam if you dont mind can i email you ..so if u know the answers it will be a big help

thanks again for replying

The text books are only meant for practice and reference. Although most questions in the state exams are worded differently and quite often trickier, the answers are generally the same, one must'nt memorize the questions but understand the concepts behind those questions. Like Sue said, don't take your exam until you KNOW that you know it, meaning thoroughly study and understand the entire course work and keep practising on all questions in every category until you get close to 95% correct by repetition. Most, if not all, questions from 1001 Q&A text book are generally "similar" in the exams and a few are exactly same.

You have, I believe 5 tries within a 12-month period from the date of letter and you're left with 3 more. Your test results will display your score and a graph wherein your weaknesses lies. Study those areas more and as well as reviewing on the ones you're good at. I was told by the OREA reps that most appraisers fail the first, second and even their third tries. Several licensed trainees that I personally know have been in the same situation.

Suggestion

Learnappraising.com is what I recommend. You have access to it for a year, and it helps with all certification levels, including the FHA test, which is not difficult anymore anyway, but every little feather in your hat will help your resume. The website has games and explains appraisal math with animation. It really helped me pass my general when I failed by 2-3 points 3 times (talk about frustrating!). All of the first group of generals in my state only had to make a 75 to pass, then they upped the score requirement. I was a CR before and passed that on the first try with the Fisher and Tosh Book. Learnappraising is also exactly like you are taking the test.

Agree with the above, learnappraising.com and also cramdisk.com are what I used and passed easily with minimal study from books.

What you really need to do is email DPOR and ask your questions of them, as that is your state board.

The test is issued through PSI, based in NV I think.

And as for asking your mentor, most are clueless about the workings of being a trainee and the hoops to jump through. Most mentors (EXPERIENCED appraisers) have been around long before the licensing requirement was in effect.

IFF (if and only if), your mentor went through the trainee license and does not know how to instruct and/or help you---Run! Forest Run!
