Hello All,
Orange County, California. Looking forward to become a trainee (don't have a mentor yet). Currently taking McKissock classes.
Prior experience includes working for Ford Motor as a finance analyst 2 years then working as a license mortgage loan officer for another 2 years.

I appreciate all the support and encouragement from other members. Thank you for keeping it 100% real.

Just curious, what made you decide to get into this profession? Especially now considering all the loops you have to jump through now in CA

I live in OC, CA. Volume of work is so slow with many appraisers competing for few assignments that finding a mentor is quite difficult, almost impossible. I wish you the best of luck though in your endeavor. Visit with appraisers in the area and get acquainted with the most seasoned ones for advice.

Few reasons, some of which are:
- This profession could provide more flexibly and rewarding career.
- I have always been passionate about RE. My dad is a builder overseas and I used to work with him growing up.
- It is more dynamic and operational which align more with my personality.

Thank you for the insights KONA. You are correct. It is very difficult in this market. I will keep trying. Thank you,

Hopefully you have another job to pay your bills considering it will takes years till you actually can make a living from this profession. Also, probably the worst time to get in this business as work load is the slowest it has been in 10 years.

you are 100% correct Timindp. My timing could not have been worst given the high rate. I have a part time job to pay my bills. I am also doing online education to do home inspections as well. I think in my humble opinion that because of the appraisal market crashing since June 2022, many appraisers would decide to retire or do other things. If you add the ridicules barrier of entry to this profession, there might actually be a shortage of appraisers in a year or two.
