So that means they are going to electricity for heating, cooking, and hot water. And where is that going to come from? Like CA, the woke Portland area will end up buying electricity generated in WA and eastern Oregon, or exporting pollution east, like CA. In general Oregonians are your typical, not that smart, blue state. They fell for the Enron scam and dragged rate payers through its bankruptcy. It should have cheap BPA hydropower, but it ranks only 41st, and thanks to Google and Facebook server farms taking advantage of cities like The Dalles, which was just forced to disclose how much water is wasted to cool servers....right up with the wasteful use of energy for Bitcoin.

I would not put it past the loony Dems in Salem to institute a Statewide ban on Natural Gas this year.

Also, here in Eastern Oregon we have two power plants that use cheap gas from Canada to boil water taken from the Columbia River which generates clean electricity. Shutting that down would leave a big gap in our power supply.

How stupid can people continue to get?

So all those higher elevation homes that can get pretty cold in the winter--how will they stay warm? Far too cold for heat pumps. Space heaters? Extremely expensive toaster strips? Look for $1,000 electric bills.

And where/how is all that electric coming from? Lets see, electric comes from power plants. What powers those power plants? Let's see now, the answer is on the tip of my tongue....oh yeah, fossil fuels!

Or has Oregon broken through with the first solar and wind powered plants for electricity?

I thought banning gasoline powered lawn equipment was the ultimate in dumb. I stand corrected. Not even any decade long phase out here. Just, boom! I swear OR and CA are having a race to see who can ruin their state first...So glad I have visited both when they were more normal. Sad to see the declines though, both beautiful states nature wise.

California and Washington hold the lead for stupid. Oregon is that little kid who likes to tag-a-long and shout "Me too".

We have plenty of solar panels here in Oregon. Yeah, they work great when covered with snow!

"Natural Gas Heat Is Much Cheaper Than Electric Heat In The US

Yes natural gas heat is cheaper than electric heat in the US. We qualify this by saying that in this article we mean only electric resistive heat. This refers to classic, standard baseboard heating. The electricity is used to directly create heating which radiates out of the heating system. Modern heat pumps are also driven by electricity but instead of generating it, heat pumps move heat. So heat pump efficiencies are calculated in a different way.

Oregon 10.500 32.729 -67.92%"

This analysis for Oregon was based on 10.5 cent per KWH for electricity. Natural gas heat is 68% less expensive. I figured my last PGE bill and it was 15 cents / KWH, or 50% more than this analysis. Sounds like another stupid mistake for Oregon.

We need a new forum category "Homelessness, Crime". You could nowadays create geographic maps of these things. Homelessness and crime are spreading like wildfire in California, Oregon and Washington. Of course, the homeless get chased off one area and then show up in another - so such maps would have to be dynamic - kind of like weather maps. But they do tend to congregate in certain regions for extended periods of time. Don't forget the cartels, illegal pot growers, and meth labs. We could use some maps of those too. The cartels, I have heard, have taken over large parts of Siskiyou and other northern California Counties.

Maybe throw in food shortages - which are likely to get worse. Food and other product shortages are going to get bad, bad, bad. Costco shelves arenow often bare. No eggs today at Costco (South San Francisco).

Water as well --- poisoned or disappearing lakes and underground reservoirs.

Oh, yea. Gas, put that on the map too.

One thing about Oregon though - You can still get big beautiful luscious Apples, Cherries, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries and the like from many food stands along farm roads in the Summer.

With "Climate Change" Oregon is doing well in Wine (as is England). And has always been great at growing Doug Fir.
