For those of you who are wondering why there are no posts in this forum, it was just started 3/20/07.
I should have started it when I started the forum, don't know why I didn't. So I will begin and introduce myself.
My name is Wayne McKerley and I am the owner of this forum. I am a former real estate appraiser and "retired" from appraising in 1997. I then started designing web sites and providing web hosting for appraisers. This forum began in late 1998 as a portion of my website at RWM.net which, at that time, I used for designing and hosting appraiser web sites. The forum was just a small portion of that web site. Really it was sort of an afterthought. As a former appraiser who worked alone (as many appraisers do), I thought it would be a good thing for appraisers to be able to go online and discuss appraisal projects, bounce ideas off of each other, socialize and just generally get together with others of like interests. I made it open to anyone with an interest in appraisal, not just appraisers.
When we first started in 1998 we used very primitive forum software that stacked the posts one on top of the other. There was no organization, categories, or anything that made sense, just strings of posts, one after the other.
In February 2000, after the forum had grown a little bit, I decided to give the forum it's own home and registered the domain of appraisersforum.com. In 2001 I changed to software that is similar to what we use now, although it was not near as sophisticated today's software. What we use now is actually the fifth (and hopefully last) brand of software that the forum has used. Over the years we have grown substantially to where now we have over 33,000 members and 560,000 posts!
So that's me, now let's hear from you!
Feel free to start a new thread to introduce yourself.
