So what is everyone in Indiana doing with their 5 year old files? Does the state or USPAP dictate how we are to get rid of them? It seems to me that the information is all public anyway, so we should be able to just through it away. What are the rest of you doing?

I like to burn ours, kind of a since of satisfiaction......

To-your-door shredding service. Look up "document destruction" or call Rays Trash. 10 cents/pound, $40 minimum. Or, like some appraisers I know, toss them in the dumpster.

"All public..."

Don't agree with that. Copies of reports are not public information, neither are interior photos of homes, to name a few non-public bits of info in my files.

I use a local document destruction service, they charge $25 per banker box.

We shred all our old files in our office and recycle the paper.
